Values education

Values education is delivered both implicitly and explicitly to all K– 6 students at LEPS.

A Year 3-6 Values Forum held on 22 September 2010 saw the Hon. Paul Fletcher (Member for Bradfield), Mr Nick Farr-Jones (Former Wallaby Captain & LEPS parent) and Debbie Lowenstein (2008 School Captain) all deliver inspirational speeches on the values that underpin our community. The values of Responsibility, Doing Your Best and Care & Respect were all defined and explored by the speakers, each of them recalling their life experiences to highlight the values.

Thank you to Mrs Elliott and Mrs Sawyer for organising the event and congratulations to Melissa X, Jason Y, Hilary S and Tamara K R, the winners of the essay and poster competitions.

On 14 October 2010, Julie Huffner of the North Shore Times reports as follows:

"Wallabies captain Nick Farr-Jones addressed a values forum at Lindfield East Public School recently where he talked about the importance of students doing their best.

Mr Farr-Jones told students while he didn't make the 1st XV rugby team at school, he never gave up.

Striving to do his best resulted in him playing 63 Tests and rising to captain the Wallabies.

Speakers at the forum, including former school captain Debbie Lowenstein and Bradfield Federal Liberal MP Paul Fletcher, talked about the values of responsibility, care and respect.

Mr Fletcher said children needed to be responsible for their actions and should take an active role caring for the environment.

School principal Andrew Stevenson said all decisions made at school were based on values and those beliefs contributed to a strong school community."
