Every year hundreds of millions of people around the world show their support for our environment by turning off their lights for one hour. Earth Hour 2011 will continue to be a global call to action to every individual, every business and every community. A call to stand up, to show leadership and be responsible for our future.
Earth Hour 2011
From the beginning, LEPS has shown support for Earth Hour and will continue to do so by once again turning off the lights for an hour on Friday 25 March. Children will engage in activities to explore sustainable practices during this time.
We are encouraging families to log onto our school Earth Hour blog. Share your family's experiences, your child's virtual lantern, plans for the official hour and build the start of what could be a school community of sustainable initiatives. You can log in to Edmodo, www.edmodo.com using your child's existing username and password (if they have been issued with one) or our school identity - username: LEPS, password: password.
Visit the Earth Hour website, www.earthhour.org where you can explore your own carbon footprint and click the Fun Stuff link for kids activities including make a virtual lantern, play the lights out game and a cool virtual light switch.
