Philosophy
At Lindfield East BASC, we believe that learning continues beyond the classroom. We recognise that play-based learning plays a crucial role in a child's development. Our program, developed in consultation with the children in our care, promotes learning, physical activity and self-discovery.
Management
The service is a non for profit organisation operated by a Management Committee of Parents. All parents are encouraged to become involved in the Committee.
The centre is registered for Assessment and Rating.
Our Regulatory Authority is the Early Childhood Education and Care Directorate. N.S.W Department of Education and Communities. ph: 1800 619113
Staffing
The National Law does not require an Educator to Child ratio. To ensure our children are adequately supervised we follow National Standards best practice.
Our ratios are:
1 Educator per 15 children
Staffing consists of a Nominated Supervisor, Educational Leader, Certified Supervisors and Educators. Qualified First aid and Asthma and Anaphylaxis trained staff are in attendance at all times. Staff profiles and qualifications are displayed at the entrance.
Enrolments
All children must be enrolled in the centre to access the service.
- Enrolment forms are available from the centre.
- A copy of your child's immunisation certificate is required upon enrolment.
- All current families are required to re-enrol in November each year for the following year.
- Enrolments for new families are accepted from December onwards.
Kindergarten Enrolments
While we encourage families to place bookings from Term 1, Kindergarten children can attend Lindfield East BASC during the January school holidays, provided they are commencing Kindergarten at Lindfield East Public School that year. Enrollments can be created from November the previous year.
Each afternoon, a BASC educator collects those Kindergarten children attending BASC at the end of school and escorts them to the BASC demountable. This occurs from Terms 1 through 4. Should any Kindergarten children be attending a Creative Workshop, a BASC educator will escort them to and from their workshops.
Childcare Subsidy
Families may be eligible to receive Child Care Subsidy (CCS). More information can be found at: www.servicesaustralia.gov.au/child-care-subsidy.
Program
Our weekly program, devised by our Educational Leader, aims to achieve the outcomes of the My Time, Our Place Framework:
1. Children have a strong sense of identity
2. Children are connected with and contribute to their world
3. Children have a strong sense of wellbeing
4. Children are confident and involved learners
5. Children are effective communicators
Incorporating child feedback and suggestions, the program aims to reflect the varied interests of the children in our care. Each morning and afternoon, we offer an indoor and outdoor activity and actively encourage all children to engage with the program.
While we do not actively promote homework at BASC, children are welcome to complete their homework at any time throughout the afternoon.
Breakfast and afternoon tea are provided. The afternoon tea menu rotates fortnightly.
