Our thanks goes out to Mr Tilsley (parent funded LEPS PE teacher) who coordinated an excellent Athletics Carnival at Narrabeen Sports Centre on Tuesday 6 May. Hot on the heels of our School Cross Country carnival, Mr T has once again exhibited an impressive ability to convene well run and enjoyable big carnival events. Returning this year to a combined track and field event was logistically more challenging, but did ensure that more students were actively participating throughout the day. Miss Medana provided her much loved novelty events and the Year 9 Killara High School Sports Science students gave invaluable assistance across all the activities.
A big thanks to Debbie Jenkins and the Parents' Auxiliary for their hospitality throughout the day, and also to the numerous parents who assisted in running the carnival events.
The enthusiasm and participation of students right across the Sport Houses needs to be acknowledged. Our outstanding athletes will now progress to the Ku-ring-gai Zone Athletics Carnival in Term 3.
Our best wishes also go out to Mr Halliday, who unfortunately ruptured his Achilles tendon during the third baton change of the traditional (and highly competitive) parent/teacher race. Despite his painful mid track injury he still showed admirable courage and presence of mind to throw the baton to his final runner. We wish him all the best for a speedy recovery.
