High potential and gifted education
Some students learn faster and more easily than others. These students may shine in creativity, thinking, leadership or sport.
At our school, we recognise and nurture these strengths early. We support advanced learners with great lessons and activities to help them grow and thrive.
Why choose us for your high potential or gifted child?

Opening doors to wider experiences
Our students can participate in a wide range of state-wide opportunities that aim to extend and enrich student potential.
What is high potential and gifted education?
High potential and gifted education (HPGE) is how our school supports students with advanced learning needs.
We do this through:
- effective teaching strategies like enrichment, extension and acceleration
- tailored support during lessons that stretch, challenge and inspire
- access to a wide range of opportunities both within and beyond our school.
Our high potential and gifted education opportunities
Our students engage with HPGE education in the classroom, in our school, and across NSW.
At Lindfield East Public School, HPGE lives in everyday practice. We challenge our students to think, create, lead and grow every day.

- We provide tasks that promote choice, authenticity, and critical and creative thinking.
- Our teachers engage in professional learning to support the diverse needs of all students, including our high potential and gifted learners

Ella Y, a remarkable young talent, who is 10 years old. Ella began her musical journey at the tender age of four, learning piano under the guidance of her mother, a dedicated piano teacher. She is currently honing her skills with the esteemed Ms. Katya Makarova.
At only nine years old, Ella achieved an outstanding A+ in the AMEB Grade 8 exam and secured 1st place in the 19th Century Piano category at the Sydney Eisteddfod for her age group. She is now preparing for her Associate in Music, Australia (AmusA) exam, a testament to her hard work and dedication.
In addition to her piano accomplishments, Ella has been playing the violin since she was six. By the age of eight, she passed the AMEB C Mus exam, the youngest recorded. She earned 2nd place in the violin category (8 years and under) at the Sydney Eisteddfod.
Ella performed a piano solo at the Chatswood Concourse as part of the NSW Arts Unit Sydney North West Music Festival. We are very proud of Ella's accomplishments, an incredibly talented student.
Isla set a goal early this year to be picked for the shortlist of the ‘What Matters’ writing competition held by the Whitlam Institute.
Isla wrote a moving piece titled ‘The Gift of Nature’, describing her feelings about our school’s Eco Garden.
The competition had over 6500 entries with only 120 students shortlisted across the four categories. We are so proud of Isla and her big achievement!
